Lessons - Our Teachers
David Jerome received his Bachelors in Music from the University of California, Berkeley, and his Master's degree from the University of California State Hayward (now California State East Bay.) There he received several awards and scholarships, including a University Fellowship for his work with the Cal State Hayward Guitar Quartet.

In 2002 he was awarded a Department of State Fulbright grant and spent 2003 furthering his research in Brazil.

He currently resides in Idyllwild, California, and performs regularly there and in other Inland Empire locations. This year he will appear at the Sierra Nevada Classical Guitar Festival in Reno.

I started playing music in 4th grade after seeing the movie "Fiddler on the Roof" -- I just HAD to play violin! Fortunately, my elementary school had a string program. I switched to saxophone in 6th grade and continued to play in high school and college, minoring in Music Performance at CSU Chico. I started studying flute and clarinet in 2000, then oboe, handbells, baritone/euphonium, and percussion. I play in a wide variety of local musical groups including The Inland Valley Symphony, The Robert Holts Orchestra, The Second Hand Brass Band, The Valley Winds Community Concert & Swing Bands, at church, and in pit orchestras for local musical theater productions. In 2009 I started teaching an instrumental music program at a private school in Menifee.
I feel that having school age children myself has made me a better teacher. I strongly believe that public performance hones our musical abilities and encourage students to perform in front of an audience as often as possible. My students participate in studio recitals, local youth symphonies, honor bands, musical theater pit orchestras, and solo and ensemble festivals. Occasionally, my advanced students "sub" for me in groups I play in when I can't make a rehearsal or performance. I enjoy sharing my love of music with my family and students. Let's play!
